Phuket, Thailand

With season closing in most parts of Malaysia, Phuket opens up as their best time to dive is between November to April, perfect news for us dive junkies!

Its wide offering of marine life from carpets of anemones to soft corals and sea fans that dominate the seabed at anemone reef to the leopard, bamboo and even white tip reef sharks at shark point leaves divers always wanting more. The macro lovers will also love the trove of marine life ranging from frogfishes to seahorses. The occasional spotting of manta rays, eagle rays and the all elusive whale shark makes diving around the area always a surprise and enjoyable.

In 1997, the King Cruiser, was on its way to the Phi Phi island region but strayed off course and collided with the anemone reef which resulted in the ship’s demise. It has now become one of the best dive sites in Phuket due to its multiple decks all blooming with coral life and marine life which has flourished under the shelter of the wreck.

And of course, if you’re one for the nightlife, there are clubs and bars all within splitting distance to enjoy an ice cold beer and live music. With the streets lined with Thai favorites such as Pad Thai, Papaya Salad, Moo Ping (Pork Satay) there’s something for everybody.
